Ry and I are heading down to the club tomorrow night and Tuesday lunch hour to prepare to take on H2H and Px2. Laura, I was thinking that if you had your heart set on a nickname, you could be Team GRRR! Ryan and I--Nicknames? We don't need no stinking nicknames! Really though, we're looking forward to sharing food and bathrooms with the people we will call our competition, for a weekend anyway!
For everyone watching online at home, email us at teamlemke@usacurl.org. We will love to hear from you! It goes from Thursday until Sunday, so a little support would be great for the long weekend. Have a good one!
Who are we?
Who are we? Each of us on Team Potter grew up competing in a sport that many people are just now beginning to hear about: curling. It's a sport of strategy, strength, skill and camaraderie. In the fall and winter months we spend much of our time practicing and competing in bonspiels both in the USA and internationally; and in the off-season, we train and prepare ourselves for the competitive season. We are currently training for the 2014 Olympic Trials. Follow this blog to check in on our competitive season.

Medford Silver Dollar
This weekend was somewhat successful. My team (Dad, Kent Nernberger, Charlie Tlusty, and myself) made it to the finals of the third event where we lost to the best senior men's team in the country:) To get there, we beat two teams from Centerville and lost to my father-in-law. It was a very fun weekend full of good food, old friends, and great fans. I have to admit though, I am definitely looking forward to getting back into my lead position next weekend in Ontario! I can't wait to let Jamie and Cassie make the pressure shots and sweep my little heart out!!

We're halfway there!
Wednesday afternoons are nice because I feel like I'm over the hump of the week and heading towards the weekend. Anybody have any exciting plans? I'm hoping to catch the new James Bond, "Quantum of Solace" and visit the hunting shack.

Back from Duluth
We had a great time up at the Duluth Cash Spiel last weekend. We played in a round robin pool with four other teams and our record there was 3-1 which put us in the top seed of our pool and into the quarterfinals on Sunday. In our quarterfinal, we played a great game against Miharija from Thunder Bay to advance to the semis, but lost on the last rock against McCarville, also from Thunder Bay. All in all, a great weekend :)
A big thanks to the Duluth Olive Garden, especially Nick, who was our favorite waiter, for supporting our team this weekend. I had the opportunity to sample something new on the menu– the cheese ravioli, which was just as amazing as my favorite–fettuccine alfredo! We also recommend the pumpkin cheesecake. Mmmm!

Medford's Curl for the Cure and Practice
The weekend in Medford was a success! The event raised a lot of money. A big thanks to Jamie and Laura for making the trip up and to Cassie and Jamie for donating things for silent auction and raffles. Medford Motors defeated the Dodge dealership in the media challenge 2-1! Jamie and Laura also got the insider's view of Medford on Halloween night. We had a great time dressing up and dancing the night away! Practice was a success on Saturday. A big thanks to Mitch for getting the ice ready for us and a big thanks to Mom Mueller for a wonderful breakfast!
